Perenco  has refurbished eleven classrooms and one Administrative office at a Primary School located within the EP GSCOM Educational Establishment on the Muanda Coast.  The school which was established in 1956 has 1750 pupils. The refurbished buildings were handed over to the school authorities, on Friday 28th February 2013.

A ceremony was held in the courtyard of the school and was attended by hundreds of pupils, the Territorial Authority, the general manager of Perenco and several guests including the Ambassador of France in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Luc Hallade.

The refurbishment of the building is fully in line with the voluntary social actions of Perenco. Over the last few months, the oil company has refurbished other buildings in this school. This included a large building in the primary school, a few buildings in the secondary school, along with equipping the boys and girls boarding schools.

On this occasion, Reza Mered invited other partners to support the rehabilitation of GSCOM.

Following on from the ceremony at GSCOM, Perenco delivered a lathe to COCODEM (Consultative and Development Committee of Muanda). The lathe has been installed at a workshop within the Technical Professional Institute of Muanda, Banana.

This lathe in good working order and was previously used on the Perenco storage boat, the Kalamu, before being handed over to the Technical Professional Institute of Muanda. This machine will give the opportunity to students to practice and, in future, manufacture spare parts to meet with vehicle and equipment requirements in Muanda.
