The Cenomanian reservoir is a low permeability limestone carbonated formation, with a historic production average of approximately 30bopd per well.
In May 2010, Perenco successfully fracced three pilot wells, in order to increase productivity. The combined oil rate of 90bopd for the 3 wells was subsequently increased to 450bopd+ post frac. This was achieved on time and within the tightly controlled budget for the programme. A further two wells are to be fracced in June.
These very positive results are not only changing the face of the ongoing development drilling campaign on Perenco's Southern Fields in the DRC, but are also opening up new opportunities on the other onshore fields and are reshaping the potential of the company's future onshore developments.
