DRC operational update : Secondary recovery projects

Following fifteen days of intensive activity, the SAIPEM S230 barge has left the Perenco DRC offshore site. The recent work involved a connection being established between onshore East Mibale and offshore Mibale, as part of the secondary recovery project in the Mibale Motoba and Tshiala reservoirs.

The project, which is realising synergies between the onshore and offshore concessions, involves integrating rejected water from the onshore fields and the recirculation of water produced in the offshore fields for reinjection. This significant project, for which final commissioning is expected by mid 2010, will enable Perenco to increase the reserves of the offshore fields by 4.1 million barrels and to achieve zero production water rejection.

The Tshiala field, where an Electric Submersible Pump (ESP) installation project has been conducted to boost tapping, has reached previous production levels of in excess of 6,000 BOPD. This was due to the use of a mobile work-over unit on the TSH-14 well. Despite the considerable challenges associated with the size of the platform, the well length (8 000 feet) and its deviation, the project has been successfully and safely completed within the agreed budget, enabling TSH-14 production of 1,500 BODP.
