Opening of the Monseigneur Nsumbu Institute in Kitombe, DRC

Marking a further milestone in Perenco's  social action plan for the oil producing area of Muanda,  The Monseigneur Nsumbu  Institute in the village of Kitombe in the DRC's Assolongo district was opened on 11th January, 2010. Perenco has made an extremely positive impact on the educational infrastructure of the coastal region of Muanda.

This is the 34th school Perenco has built and in 2010 two further rebuilt schools are expected to be opened in the City.  In addition, Perenco is working on the the refurbishment of three further  schools, including  the GSCOM School of Muanda, where many leading DRC figures were educated but where there has been no investment in recent years.

To ensure students are able to reach the area's improved schools, Perenco provides daily free transport with the company's own buses.  School stationary is also provided to 40 000 students  every year.
