The Costal Basin of the DRC is bordered to the East by the continental basement (eruptive and metamorphic rocks on which there has been little or no sedimentary deposits), the Congo River canyon to the South, and the country's political borders to the West.
Perenco operates four of the eight blocks of the Coastal Basin: three onshore blocks along the coast and one offshore block. The exploitation permits of these blocks were renewed in 1995 (for the offshore permit) and 2006 (for the onshore permits) until 2023 and 2024 respectively.
The DRC has produced 315 million barrels since the first permit awards in 1975.
