Forestry

Perenco runs a reforestation programme across the Muanda Territory.  Over 10 years about 30 000 acacia trees have been planted, along with bamboos and other species, in order to minimize the adverse effects of soil erosion.

From an agricultural and ecological point of view Muanda is well suited to certain types of bush able to withstand the droughts. This programme increases the potential earning power of local inhabitants, as farming conditions improve and a forestry industry evolves.

The reforestation of large barren pieces of land is the most common solution, but Perenco is also identifying opportunities to help communities with planting in villages, along roads and around schools.
