Water wells

Perenco, together with the state authority, has initiated a major plan to provide the population of Muanda with safe drinking water.

18 wells have been drilled so far, including 15 in the neighbouring villages and three in the city of Muanda.

The average depth of the water wells is 50m. Wells are equipped with a manual hand pump in the villages (where there is no water distribution network), whilst a submersible electrical pump is used in the city. The pump can deliver five m3/h.

Access to water and electricity is among the priorities of the state; so this social programme was discussed locally in Muanda with the head of villages and the head of the local community. It was approved in the regional capital of Matadi and the country capital of Kinshasa by the Minister of Hydrocarbons.
